Hamilton's Turkey Drop will rain 3,000 rubber turkeys on Nov. 25

If you grew up on WKRP in Cincinnati, Hamilton has a Thanksgiving-eve plan for you. WKRP-FM will recreate the famous turkey drop on Wed., Nov. 25, with rubber turkeys dropped from a fire-truck ladder instead of live birds. The city's annual Turkey Drop returns for a fourth year, with the Hamilton Fire Department doing the dropping.

The Turkey Drop sells 3,000 rubber turkeys at $10 each.

The turkeys that land closest to the targets win cash, bragging rights and a place in WKRP lore. Why no helicopter? Laura Ziesmann, the station's vice president of sales, says darkness and potential weather concerns make one unreliable, and a fire truck lets the promotion happen regardless.

  • Where: between Municipal Brew Works and the Casual Pint, Riverfront Plaza
  • T-shirts: available through Nov. 24
  • Proceeds: all net proceeds go to
