COMMUNITY NEWS

  • J Mel is hosting a modern cash scavenger hunt in West Chester that has made stops at familiar spots such as an old Kroger on 747 and the skate park on Christmas Eve. He has completed 10 drops so far & plans more in the coming days.  Local 12 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • B&B Theatres will take over CMX cinema at Liberty Center on Jan. 15 — planned upgrades include a 270-degree wrap-around screen, multi-sensory auditorium and family zone. Renovations will run for six to eight months to deliver a refreshed movie experience for local guests.  WCPO
  • B&B Theatres will take over CMX Cinema at Liberty Center in Liberty Township in January 2026. Planned upgrades that include luxury seating and premium screens will be completed by mid-summer.  Local 12 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two high school drummers from Greater Cincinnati (Isaac Sexton of Lakota East and Ethan Kuhn of Lebanon) will perform with the Bands of America Honor Band at the Rose Bowl Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena (a five-mile route). They rehearsed for months with online videos before the event.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three new Butler Tech centers will open in early 2026 to boost career training for high school students and adults. Projects include the Advanced Manufacturing Hub in Hamilton, the Aviation Center near Middletown Regional Airport, and a Bioscience expansion in West Chester Twp (all offering hands-on learning) (with broad support).  Journal-News
  • Former board president Laurin Sprague ended his eight-year term after guiding Hamilton Schools through COVID-19 challenges and was honored with an appreciation plaque. Sprague, who served the district since 1983 (as a teacher, principal, and board member), leaves a legacy of dedicated service.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butler County commissioners have opened a new OhioMeansJobs center in Hamilton at the AM Hub after finalizing a 20-year lease with Miami University for 17,500 sqft. Bus service starts in January and officials say the center will offer job training and career services to boost local workforce skills.  Journal-News
