  • Silkworm Tattoo celebrated its 15th anniversary in Hamilton — the shop, co-owned by Kevin Betsch, Richard Bowers and Devin Spenny, earned the Best Tattoo Shop award in 2025 while building lasting bonds with its clients.  Journal-News
  • Ayman Soliman — a former chaplain detained for over 70 days after his asylum was revoked and later reinstated — will lead a prayer service at Clifton Mosque today and speak about injustice. He has helped local families before and is rebuilding his life in our community.  Journal-News

  • Chiropractor Andrew Limle and Greg Shoenling are converting a Cheviot building into Central Station, an entertainment venue with live music, food trucks and pickleball courts — a family-friendly project backed by $650K in county grants and $1.5M investment. Paradigm Construction aims to finish by March for St. Patrick’s Day.  Local 12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Monroe Schools unveiled a new wing of classrooms converted from its junior high gym at the Yankee Road campus to ease overcrowding. The $2.5 million project adds eight classrooms and meeting spaces for 240+ students ahead of plans for a new high school.  Journal-News
  • Two Lakota Cyber Academy students were honored at National Cyber Signing Day (only eight students nationwide were selected) thanks to their cybersecurity internships and extracurricular achievements; they will pursue computer engineering in college.  Local 12 News
  • Beth Koenig (a grandmother with grandchildren in 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th grades) knitted custom hats for every student at Kings Local Elementary using designs the children colored in August. The district thanked her on social media for sharing her time and talent during the holiday season.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butler County Transit saw ridership climb from 355,000 in 2020 to near 840,000 this year and plans to boost service with more frequent free routes and scheduled BGo rides—an effort backed by a $15 million investment slated for 2026, according to executive director Matthew Dutkevicz.  Journal-News

  • Trenton Soccer Association discovered severe damage to its fields and parking lot after a snowstorm left deep ruts from a vehicle doing donuts — repairs will be postponed until weather improves ahead of the March spring season as police search for a suspect.  Local 12 News
