CULTURE NEWS

  • The Ohio Performing Arts Institute will perform 'The Nutcracker' at the Performing Arts Center (300 S. Fountain Ave) with tickets priced at $22-28 for adults and $20-26 for students. The local Smith family is featured prominently in the cast to add fresh energy to this annual holiday event.  Springfield News-Sun

  • Former first grader McKenna Walters joins Heritage Early Childhood School as a teacher this school year, reuniting with her first-grade teacher Jessica Epstein, now the reading specialist at Lakota.   • With 2025 almost over, Megan Hammond of WealthQuest advises residents to review last year’s return and implement strategies to lower their tax bill + some deductions must be submitted by Dec. 31 while others are due by April 15.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Jan. 1, 2026, Ohio drivers will face higher BMV fees as House Bill 96 increases costs to support public safety—passenger car registration will rise from $11 to $16 and service, commercial, and title fees will also be higher. These adjustments follow earlier changes that funded public safety operations.  Local 12 News
