Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 5th of December.
Good morning, Hamilton.
🏘️ Community
Heroes.com is giving gifts and supporting charities in Greater Cincinnati during the holiday season.
On Thursday, WLWT featured founder Christopher Ryall, who explained that a percentage of every purchase goes to boost local charities — helping holiday shoppers give back while finishing their Christmas shopping.
🎭 Culture
Ensemble Theater in Hamilton is set to showcase 'It's Fritz!'—the sequel to 'Fiona: The Musical'—later this season.
The production will offer a fresh chapter in local arts for theatergoers.
🎓 Education
Butler Tech's $12.7 million expansion of its Bioscience wing (80% complete) is on track to finish by end December, with new classrooms and labs planned for high school and adult students in January.
The project will boost training capabilities and meet a growing demand for healthcare education.
🏥 Health
An Anderson Township mother, Jessica Gilbert, rang the bell on Thursday to mark being cancer free nearly a year after a stage three ovarian cancer diagnosis in January.
She underwent chemotherapy and a full hysterectomy at UC Medical Center — urging anyone with unusual symptoms to see a doctor.
Local community leaders have launched the CancerFree KIDS initiative to fight childhood cancer and offer support in Hamilton.
The program (which provides educational resources and early detection services) is set to expand its outreach soon.
