Good morning, Hamilton. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 3rd of December.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After several inches of snow fell Tuesday morning, local schools canceled classes and residents worked with state agencies to clear streets and sidewalks in Butler County. Students helped shovel driveways while the Ohio Department of Transportation deployed over 100 plows—ensuring major roads were cleared for safe travel.  FOX 19 Now
  • Lincoln Heights youth from the Heights Movement cleared driveways, sidewalks — and spread salt on streets on Tuesday morning during the season's first snowfall to help neighbors like Vanessa Moore get on the road. The group, led by village councilman Dorance Daniels, filled gaps that city plows sometimes miss.  WCPO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Authorities declared snow emergencies on Tuesday morning as snow made travel hazardous; Hamilton County issued a Level 1 alert (hazardous, icy roads) and Warren County set a Level 2 emergency (only essential travel advised). Residents were urged to drive cautiously and allow extra time for their commute.  FOX 19 Now
  • City officials have approved permits for a proposed data center on city-owned land near Miami University—residents led by Teri Cunningham and her coalition worry the project could bring high energy use, noise and environmental harm. City Manager Craig Bucheit said the developer will pay for the extra power needed while studies determine if the city’s grid can support the project.  WVXU
  • The first big snowfall left many drivers scraping their windshields and roofs to avoid hazards — officials explained that while no state law bans snow on a car, drivers can get tickets if snow blocks views or lights. Residents in Norwood reported that even though the cold felt fun, clearing the snow now helped prevent accidents later.  WLWT
