CRIME NEWS

  • Nearly two months after 15-year-old Dylan Straughn was killed in a hit-and-run while riding his bike in Colerain Township, his father Paul Straughn is creating a scholarship in his son's name to help students attend Moeller High School—while police continue to investigate the driver who left the scene.  WLWT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rascal Flatts will perform as a headliner at the Voices of America Country Music Fest in West Chester next summer. The festival runs from August 6 through 9 and ticket packages are on sale—Blake Shelton was already announced as another key act.  Local 12 News
  • Columbus's Rascal Flatts (one of the biggest acts in country) was announced as the second headliner for the 2026 Voices of America Country Music Fest in West Chester Township and joins Blake Shelton as a top act. Tickets for the four-day event are on sale with general admission starting at $239.99 and set to increase on Nov. 9.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents in Ross Local School District pressed the board at a Thursday meeting — warning that low pay may drive quality teachers away and hurt student learning. District officials said they will continue talking with the Ross Education Association to secure a competitive pay package for teachers.  WCPO
  • Hamilton City Schools Superintendent Andrea Blevins will address the impact of state budget cuts on district funding in two sessions tonight at Hamilton High School auditorium—one from 3:30 to 5 and another from 5:30 to 7. The public is invited to attend and ask questions during the sessions.  Journal-News

  • Hamilton officials said longtime economic development director Jody Gunderson died on Thursday from a heart attack at 59—after nearly 14 years of service in growing local business. City Manager Craig Bucheit said his work and kind nature left a lasting mark on the community.  Journal-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hamilton County is seeing an early rise in RSV that has led to 32 hospitalizations — including 23 children — as doctors warn the virus can cause serious illness if untreated. Health officials advise getting vaccinated, washing hands carefully, and following other precautions to help curb its spread.  Local 12 News
