COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Healing Center is preparing a Thanksgiving food collection + Harvest for Hope to gather donations and support local families in need.  FOX 19 Now
  • Local families on SNAP are feeling the effects of the federal benefits freeze as food banks brace for increased demand with Thanksgiving nearly here. Mayor Pureval announced a grocery delivery pilot with Kroger and the Winton Hill Community Council, and church leaders are urging donations (more than 90,000 residents affected) while Ohio will send full SNAP payments before the week ends (including 43,000 children).  WLWT
  • Colin Rountree, a skilled drone racer with almost a decade of experience, has teamed up with Campus Guardian Angel to pilot drones that will be stationed in schools and deployed within 45 seconds to help slow intruder threats—allowing law enforcement time to respond. He will continue racing on weekends while building a career focused on community safety.  Local 12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teenager Nguyen became the youngest member of the Lakota School Board after winning a seat by about 2,000 votes on Nov. 4—he ran on a campaign stressing fiscal restraint and opposing tax hikes. He will begin his four-year term in early January and is expected to bring a fresh student view to the board.  Journal-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Experts from Cincinnati Children's found that children with food allergies have slower immune development and that having a dog helps improve this delay—researchers examined the blood of 147 young children with skin conditions linked to allergies. The study suggests that early exposure to dogs may help build a stronger immune system by introducing the germs needed for proper development.  WVXU

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Vera Keck celebrated her 106th birthday Sunday at her retirement community in Hamilton—she rode horses until she was 102 and danced with a local senior group until she turned 100, saying she eats and drinks like everybody else.  Local 12 News

  • A report from MMG shows that while developers delivered 2,925 apartment units in 2025, only 1,650 units are planned for delivery in 2026—indicating that strong demand and few vacancies will drive rents higher in the region.  Local 12 News
