  • Hope's Closet in West Chester is running low on free clothing for foster families as hundreds have shopped for clothes this season—straining the inventory available to support over 400 children since September. The organization is seeking donations of key items to help meet the growing need.  WCPO

  • Daymond John—CEO of FUBU and Shark Tank investor—spoke at Miami Hamilton where he shared his personal journey and lessons on entrepreneurship, praising the local cuisine and community that inspired him. He urged entrepreneurs not to give up as they face challenges while pursuing what they love.  Journal-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Miami University unveiled a Butler County bus at its main Oxford campus that displays its role in the Civil Rights movement. Attendees toured the bus which features panels on Freedom Summer and the training of 800 volunteers in June 1964 — officials say it will inspire future generations.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • All 22 Hamilton County school districts signed a letter — expressing concerns about eliminating property taxes — warning that proposed changes to Ohio’s tax system could force cuts to vital school programs. School leaders said the shift of the tax burden to homeowners and reduced state support left Ohio near the bottom nationally and may force hard choices for local schools in the near future.  WLWT
  • Ohio residents who rely on SNAP received partial benefits after a government shutdown, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services started calculating the full amount by deducting what was already paid; the director of Hamilton County Job and Family Services expects to send full benefits by the end of the month — recipients are advised to check their accounts via the EBT app.  WLWT

HEALTH NEWS

  • CareVet of Middletown on Manchester Road reported a sharp rise in dog parvovirus cases and warned pet owners to look for symptoms like severe vomiting or bloody diarrhea—unusual since the clinic normally sees only 1-2 cases per year. The clinic also noted an increase in feline panleukopenia and advised extra caution in dog parks, boarding facilities, and grooming salons to help prevent further spread.  Journal-News
