COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for both citizen and small business person of the year, with winners set to be honored at the annual meeting in January — nominations are due by Tuesday, Nov. 25. The awards recognize local residents and business owners who have made significant contributions to Hamilton's community and economy.  Journal-News
  • People Working Cooperatively is hosting its annual Prepare Affair on Saturday, November 15th to help about 725 homes get ready for winter. Volunteers will work on tasks like clearing leaves and cleaning gutters at 4612 Paddock Road + free lunch will be provided after the event.  WLWT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • 7 Brew Coffee announced that it will build a new drive-thru shop at 1412 Main St in Hamilton Meadows plaza—next to Taco Bell and in front of Rural King. City officials confirmed the chain has received a building permit but noted that a construction timeline is not yet available.  Journal-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Miami University announced a new program called Early Access BSN 1+3 Model that lets Warren County high school students begin college nursing courses while still in school — offering classes at Miami’s Middletown and Hamilton campuses. The program will let qualified juniors and seniors earn college credits through Ohio’s College Credit Plus and gain direct admission to Miami’s BSN program in Hamilton, cutting both time and cost in completing their degree.  Journal-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, a strong solar storm lit up the sky with northern lights over Greater Cincinnati due to a coronal mass ejection — clear skies on Wednesday allowed a chance to see a second display if the low view line reached our area.  WLWT

  • Local hemp businesses worry a House funding bill may ban hemp products with more than 0.4 milligrams of THC—Drew Schulte of Cappy’s in Norwood said losing 28% of his sales may hurt his ability to pay bills and staff.  FOX 19 Now
  • Thousands of Ohio SNAP recipients are receiving only partial benefits as the state works through a large backlog, leaving many Hamilton County families without the full 65% they were promised. A mother at Saint Vincent de Paul's food pantry said she received only $56 when her usual amount is $434—families are stretching their limited funds while waiting for relief.  WCPO

HEALTH NEWS

  • Maineville mother Casey Gould, whose heart stopped after giving birth, reunited with the Atrium Medical Center team on Wednesday and thanked them for saving her life while visiting with her 1-year-old son Archer. She suffered from a rare condition—postpartum cardiomyopathy—that left her in a coma for three days and will need yearly checkups.  WLWT
