- ➤ Best Buddies International is expanding its programs in Greater Cincinnati to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities find inclusive living, employment and friendships—efforts led by local director Casey Goldman-Davis and committee chair Kate Malo. The organization will host its first Champion of the Year gala next Thursday at the Syndicate in Newport to raise funds and awareness across five counties. WLWT
- ➤ Bret Abner of Hamilton said his one-eyed Labrador Ivy Jo returned to retrieving ducks after losing sight from blastomycosis and proved she could track wounded birds by scent. - ➤ Cincinnati Animal CARE is asking for donations to help Fighting Chance Rescue care for 18 horses seized in August from Muddy Water Ranch after they were found starved and weak + the owner has filed a motion to bring the horses back, so donations will pay for food, farrier work and vet care + a peaceful protest will be held next Tuesday outside Hamilton County Courthouse at 8:30 a.m. WLWT

- ➤ Red mulberry trees have become endangered in several states and may soon face similar risks in Ohio due to crossbreeding with invasive white mulberries from Asia — botanist Dr. Julian Campbell will sell pure seedlings at the Boone County Arboretum to help restore the species. WLWT

- ➤ CLEAR launched its new facial recognition eGates at CVG Airport on Friday to cut TSA wait times—travelers have their faces matched with IDs while TSA retains control. - ➤ The FDA announced on October 22 that over 5 million pounds of mozzarella cheese sold in Ohio were recalled after stainless steel pieces were found in the product — the recall is classified as Class II, meaning it may cause only temporary or medically reversible health effects. Local 12 News
