- ➤ Federal student aid applications for 2026-27 are now open and will be processed despite the government shutdown - the education department advised families to apply soon to meet state deadlines, with Ohio's due by June 30 and Kentucky using a first-come-first-served system. WLWT
- ➤ Talawanda School District terminated the contract of an administrator last month after detecting a criminal record in Montgomery Court records—he had not disclosed his past conviction on his application. The board said his contract allowed termination for undisclosed records and has since added a signature requirement to improve its hiring process. Journal-News
