COMMUNITY NEWS

  • New Life Furniture Bank will host Party in the House on Friday, Oct. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Memorial Hall—this design event invites local designers to refurbish donated furniture to raise funds for families in need.  WLWT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Dozens gathered Sunday to pray for 13-year-old Lakota student Bobby Mbuagbaw, who was hit in a crosswalk while riding his bike in Liberty Township last week by a 92-year-old driver—his family says he faces a long road to recovery after a severe brain injury.  WLWT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hamilton’s Third Eye Brewing and Municipal Brew Works teamed up on Route 4 Revive-Ale—which won a gold medal in the collaboration category at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Third Eye Brewing was also named Brewery of the Year for the second time at the event.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hamilton Police Department warned the public that a training exercise will occur on Oct. 15 at the Butler County Fairgrounds and involve a civil disturbance drill by West Chester Police and Butler County EMA from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Officials said the drill will use actors, loud noises, and simulations (there is no cause for concern).  Local 12 News
  • Attorney General Dave Yost announced that Butler County Jail will get $169,998 in state funding for inmate addiction treatment. The money is part of a plan covering 37 counties—helping inmates get clean and improve their lives.  Local 12 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Chantel Raghu at the Oxford Veterinary Hospital said a Hamilton-area dog tested positive for a larva thought to be the dangerous Asian long-horned tick, which can harm people, pets and cattle. The infected dog was treated and USDA officials warn that the tick reproduces quickly without males + it can spread diseases if allowed to feed beyond 24 hours.  WCPO
