COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Bethany House will host its annual Welcome Home Bash on Oct 16 at the American Sign Museum to raise funds for shelters that support women, children + families. The event will feature raffles, silent auctions and specialty cocktails to fund essential services for those in need. WLWT

- ➤ Jordan and Dan cruise down the Ohio River today as River Roots kicks off—this event showcases live music and local history along the river and will feature additional tours later. FOX 19 Now
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A new report from the Cincinnati Regional Chamber showed that the metro area grew by about 20,000 people last year, with over 5,000 new residents moving to Hamilton County. The report also found that growth is slower than in other cities and officials say that changes in government, zoning, and infrastructure are needed to reach over 2.8 million people by 2050 — local leaders plan further reviews. - ➤ The Learning Experience celebrated three years of teaching American Sign Language to infants as part of a program that uses signs during play, mealtimes and circle time—helping children communicate before they can speak. Local 12 News

- ➤ Butler County must pay a $1M verdict to former magistrate Edelstein after a jury ruled she was fired for observing Jewish high holy days. The county’s bid for an en dash review was denied—an outcome following nearly eight years of litigation and costing the county about $800K. Journal-News
- ➤ Hamilton residents are told to leave their leaves unbagged and rake them out no earlier than the weekend before collection days. The City has set collection routes from November 3 to December 30—guidelines include keeping leaves clear of parked cars and free of grass clippings or brush as Rumpke will also pick up properly bagged yard waste throughout the year. - ➤ Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has imposed a 90-day ban on intoxicating hemp products, including THC-infused gummies and beverages, to protect children. The order will take effect on Oct. 14 at 12:01 a.m. and requires stores to return unsold items to manufacturers or law enforcement. FOX 19 Now
- ➤ Ohio lawmakers from southwestern Ohio introduced a bill that will ban individuals accused or convicted of violent crimes from earning funds via crowdfunding sites—extending the Son of Sam law. The measure comes after Rodney Hinton Jr. is accused of running over a Hamilton County deputy, and it aims to hold platforms and fundraisers accountable for supporting such cases. FOX 19 Now
