  • Jonisa Cook lost her son Joshua last November when he drowned in a pond behind her home—she is now launching the Joshua Al-Lateef Jr. Foundation to help families of children with autism by funding swim lessons and connecting them with local resources. The foundation will host its first gala on November 15—its date chosen to honor Joshua's memory.  WLWT

  • The 33rd Annual Donauschwaben Oktoberfest will offer traditional German food, live music, and family activities—bringing local community members together to celebrate cultural heritage.  FOX 19 Now

  • The Ohio Department of Commerce warns Hamilton investors to be careful when using social media for investment advice as unregistered finfluencers may push risky investments for undisclosed pay & short-term trends. They urge investors to check credentials with tools like FINRA’s BrokerCheck and to rely on multiple trusted sources for safe financial decisions.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Gov. DeWine and the Ohio Department of Public Safety launched RoadReady Ohio, an app that uses telematics to give real-time feedback & help learners log the 50 hours of supervised driving needed before taking their test. The new law also takes effect today, requiring anyone under 21 to complete a driver training course with 24 hours of classroom lessons and 8 hours of instructor training before they can get a license.  WLWT
  • Nearly a year after moving into a $32 million building, Hamilton PD gave about 200 members a behind-the-scenes look at its new Hamilton Justice Center—a modern facility built with advanced technology and designed to attract new recruits; the center is located across Hanover Street from Butler County Jail.  Journal-News
