ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews are cleaning up after a tow boat that partially sank in the Ohio River upriver from the Anderson Ferry—containment barricades are set to prevent fuel spills until the area is fully cleaned.  Local 12 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Agriculture confirmed that the invasive box tree moth has been found in Ashtabula, Clark, Cuyahoga and Preble counties along with regulated southwest counties including Hamilton. The pest was first seen in June 2023 and threatens boxwood plants as inspectors plan to set traps and conduct surveys — checking for signs of damage.  Local 12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ross Township voters will be asked to pass a fire levy that combines two existing levies into one to support the fire department as it faces a $200,000 deficit by the end of 2026 and increasing call volumes. The levy will raise taxes by .75 mills—an extra $125 per year on a $100,000 home—and is needed to fund operations, replace aging equipment, and address staffing shortages.  Journal-News

  • Rob Williams is hosting ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk today and urging local residents to get early screening to help detect the disease sooner—he hopes the event will lead to more timely treatment.   • The Cincinnati Reds beat the Brewers 7-4 on Saturday with a six-run third inning, keeping their playoff hopes alive. They will play the Brewers again Sunday at 3:10 p.m. and must win to clinch a postseason spot.  WLWT
