- ➤ Ronald McDonald House is partnering with Jeff Wyler for a car parade to help children with illnesses – the event will be held soon to offer local support for sick kids. FOX 19 Now
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ King of Them All: The Story of King Records, a documentary by Yemi Oyediran, will air on WCET-TV and Dayton’s WPTD-TV at 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 — the film uses archived audio and interviews to show how the label mixed music styles and changed the industry. WVXU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Xavier University said its enrollment dropped below 5,000 this fall after losing nearly 2,000 students since 2011, with 673 freshmen enrolled as it faces a multi-million dollar budget deficit. The school has added eight new undergraduate programs and new graduate offerings and has launched its $500 million campaign—For One. For All. Forever—to boost enrollment and offer a new scholarship for local high school students. WVXU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new law requires drivers under 21 to complete 24 hours of classroom training, 8 hours with an instructor, and 50 hours of supervised driving before they can get a license. The rule takes effect Sept 30 after teen drivers were involved in nearly 155,000 crashes (including about 400 deaths and over 41,000 injuries) between 2023 and 2024, and local driving schools are preparing with virtual classes. - ➤ Hamilton County held its annual Snow Plow Roadeo event this week — a three-day training where plow drivers practiced challenging maneuvers to ready themselves for winter storms. Officials said the exercise helps county, township, and municipal workers adjust to the demanding conditions on the road. WLWT
