COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Joshua Eversole, who lost his daughter to SIDS three years ago, walked near the Butler County Courthouse on Friday to hand out a rose and kind words—reminding passersby that they are loved.  Local 12 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Union members approved a new contract for five years with GE Aerospace at the Evendale and Erlanger facilities—workers will return to work Sunday evening and Monday morning. The agreement resolves disputes over healthcare costs and profit sharing that led 640 members to strike.  Local 12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ross Local Schools said its new 2026—27 plan will shift fourth-graders to either Morgan or Elda Elementary and fifth-graders to Ross Middle School as declining enrollment prompts the change. The district will repurpose Ross Intermediate School into a District Welcome Center while ensuring a smooth transition for students.  WLWT
  • Middletown Area Neediest Youth helps local students get new clothes and shoes so they can stay in school, serving about 750 students from 18 schools with cash vouchers and volunteer help. Board members said the nonprofit, founded in 1973 and having raised over $990,000 (all funds going back to the community), plans to expand donor support beyond Middletown.  Journal-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hamilton, Franklin, Montgomery and 15 other counties were placed under quarantine when the spotted lanternfly threatened vineyards, orchards and gardens. The Ohio Department of Agriculture urged locals to squish the invasive bug and inspect plant shipments before moving them—steps to protect agriculture in our area.  Local 12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • An Egyptian national imam detained by ICE for over 3 months was released from Butler County Jail on Friday after his asylum was revoked, according to his attorney—he now is pursuing a green card and expects his asylum to be reinstated soon.  FOX 19 Now
  • Imam Ayman Soliman, the former Cincinnati Children's chaplain, was detained on July 9 during a routine ICE check-in and has been released from prison—lawyers confirmed his release outside Butler County Jail and noted that his asylum was revoked in June.  WVXU
