- ➤ Cincinnati Animal CARE is celebrating five years as Hamilton County’s animal shelter by hosting its first signature fundraiser called Unleashed: The Power of Love on Oct 3 at Rhinegeist Brewery’s clubhouse and annex. The event will include a VIP hour from 6 to 7 followed by a main event from 7 to 10 and an after party until 11:30. WLWT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A replica of the USS Cincinnati submarine is taking shape at Voice of America Park as pieces of the Cold War Memorial Peace Pavilion come together. The pavilion, which will display a full-sized submarine and an engine called (The Big Red Machine), is set to open next spring to honor the United States' 250th birthday. Local 12 News
- ➤ Lane Libraries is inviting cartoonists of all ages to send in original comic strips for its Just Humor Us contest by Sept. 25, which is National Comic Book Day + entries must be respectful and submitted individually. Winners in the 7 to 11, 12 to 17 and adult groups will be chosen on Oct. 6 + selected strips will appear in the Journal-News and on the Lane Libraries website. Journal-News

- ➤ Amazon announced plans to open a 538,000 square foot same-day delivery facility in Turtlecreek Township that will use advanced robotics to handle tens of thousands of orders daily and create over 125 full-time jobs with benefits starting at an average wage of $20.50 per hour — the project is part of a joint initiative with Warren County to transform state-owned land into a logistics park. - ➤ Hamilton County is under quarantine today to limit the spread of spotted lanternflies — insects that stress trees and damage garden vegetables. The Ohio ag department advises residents to inspect plants before shipping them out and to squash any insects and eggs while avoiding pesticides that harm other pests. WLWT

- ➤ Hamilton County’s 513Relief Bus is offering help to apply for unclaimed funds from inactive bank accounts and utility bills — officials report nearly $270 million belongs to local residents. The bus will be at Bethlehem Temple on Hamilton Ave. today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in Silverton on Friday during the same hours. WVXU
