- ➤ Members of the United Auto Workers reached a tentative five-year contract with GE Aerospace that gives workers more vacation and personal time after a multi-week strike at the Evendale and Erlanger plants following the contract expiration on Aug. 27. - ➤ Forty local high school students were named National Merit Semifinalists among 16,000 nationwide. - ➤ Wildlife officials said today that an outbreak of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease has been found among white-tailed deer on the east side of Hamilton County, the west side of Clermont County, and in Highland and Clark Counties — the disease is spread by biting midges and poses no threat to people or pets.
