  • The Fitton Family YMCA in Hamilton unveiled new flooring, lighting – and improved amenities after receiving over $400K in donations to refresh its 55-year-old facility. Donors including Matt and Marcia Kornau helped make the gym a welcoming space for families and community members.  Journal-News

CRIME NEWS

  • A former Hamilton County deputy sheriff from Mason, Davyne Davis was indicted on a felony theft charge for allegedly submitting fraudulent work hours that resulted in a $6,000 loss. He resigned after nearly two years — his case is now with the prosecutor as investigations continue.  FOX 19 Now
  • Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said she will not challenge Judge Wende C. Cross’s ruling that excluded key evidence—such as testimony from the late Blue Ash officer—from use in Elwood Jones’s new trial after his 1996 murder conviction of Rhoda Nathan and over 27 years on death row—while the case now awaits a separate Ohio Supreme Court decision.  WCPO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Dent Schoolhouse is updating its security procedures for its 29th year—guests aged 15 and under must be with an adult and up to five teens may accompany each adult—and the changes include metal detector screening and restrictions on backpacks and large bags. These measures are part of a new set of rules aimed at improving campus safety.  Local 12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas General Division said today that the county is closing its probation substations and moving 11 field officers to work at the Court Administration building at 800 Broadway. Six officers will get a 5% pay boost—no officer will lose their job as they begin a new model for probation work based on best practices.  WCPO

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lucas Kunkel set a school record today by scoring six touchdowns in the first half during a 57-8 win over Thurgood Marshall, helped by strong plays from his team. He said scoring is one of the best moments of his life and he will join the U.S. Air Force after high school (Coach Commins praised his work).  Journal-News
