BUSINESS NEWS

  • GE Aerospace said it made a record offer for a three-year deal with a 12% wage increase starting in Sept. 2025 and extra vacation days when it presented its proposal on Aug. 27, but the UAW reported that the offer did not meet their demands for better health care and job security. Hundreds of UAW workers at its facilities in Evendale and Erlanger remain on strike as the two sides continue to disagree over the details — GE said no further concessions are planned.  WLWT
  • Crane Consumables in Lemon Township announced a local expansion that will cost over $1M and add 20 jobs to its 25,000-square-foot campus at 155 Wright Drive. The project will add 12,000 square feet and new machinery + infrastructure improvements with work scheduled to finish by March 2026 while retaining the regional workforce.  Local 12 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Robert Stewart pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the 2003 death of Herman Brown and will serve seven years in prison – his plea deal dropped the murder charge and avoided a possible life sentence after he was arrested in Lima and extradited to Hamilton County.  FOX 19 Now
  • A police officer was fired for being drunk on the job, the mayor said, after a couple who had called the police described the encounter as bizarre—officials confirmed the decision followed an internal review.  FOX 19 Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Middletown city services were disrupted two weeks ago by a cybersecurity incident that appears to be a ransomware attack — city staff are now in the forensics phase as they work to restore full operations while key services remain available at the city building.  Journal-News
