- ➤ Gregory Wright, a 32-year-old from Avondale, was indicted for aggravated riot and aggravated robbery after he allegedly ripped a gold chain from a victim during the July 26 downtown altercation—he remains in Hamilton County Jail on a $100,000 bond and pleaded not guilty. FOX 19 Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Winton Woods City Schools launched a free after-school program for middle school students Monday as part of a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton and the City of Forest Park. The program ran from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and offered mentoring, sports, academic support, tutoring, and field trips — while the district improved campus security with active shooter training and high-tech badges. - ➤ Immigration experts said ICE arrests increased after Butler County deputies were allowed to make immigration arrests—recent cases include the deportation of Emerson Colindres, the voluntary removal of Alonzo Tomas Mendez, and the order that keeps former chaplain Ayman Soliman in jail. WVXU
- ➤ More than a dozen pastors toured Butler County Jail on Aug. 13 after the sheriff's office invited them following a letter that raised concerns over its contract to hold ICE detainees.
