CRIME NEWS

  • Victor Juarez, a 26-year-old undocumented immigrant, was indicted on 13 federal counts of sexual exploitation for videotaping himself abusing a 12-year-old girl in Hamilton County in October and November 2024—federal charges now supersede his earlier local rape charge.  FOX 19 Now
  • A 73-year-old former pediatrician at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Howard Saal (accused of possessing over 153,000 images and 470 videos of child abuse) faces federal charges after an investigation that began in February revealed he uploaded explicit materials, though authorities say the evidence does not involve hospital patients.  Local 12 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jay Moorman runs BeauVerre Riordan Studios on Central Ave., where he creates and restores stained glass art for churches and homes. He began in a basement before moving to a larger space that preserves a nearly 200-year legacy — he now teaches classes and is renovating the loft above — ensuring the art lives on.  Journal-News
  • Seven Mile is hosting its annual Oktoberfest celebration this weekend with family-friendly activities, live entertainment and German food — including a Friday happy hour from 5—6 p.m. The event also features Bavarian dancers on Friday and a performance by Pallin’ with Al on Saturday as community members enjoy games and attractions that celebrate local German heritage.  Journal-News

  • An administrator at Talawanda Schools was placed on unpaid leave one day before classes resumed (new information prompted an investigation) and officials have not identified the staff member (details remain undisclosed).  WLWT
  • The Oak Hills board approved a bond measure on the November ballot to fund new school buildings and facility improvements—without raising taxes. The plan will build Springmyer Elementary and Delhi Middle School, add air conditioning to Oak Hills High School, and later construct a new Bridgetown Middle School.  FOX 19 Now
