  • 9-year-old Brody Baldwin from Butler County raised more than $4,000 by selling beaded pens to buy pet food, toys and supplies for local animal shelters; Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton received the first donation. His father said the business, which began with about 20 orders in May, may soon expand as Brody plans to support a different shelter each month.  Local 12 News

  • Hamilton County Judge Berkowitz set a $3 million bond for Cincinnati man Darius McGrew, accused of fatally shooting 12-year-old Nehemiah McMillon after chasing a stolen car near Winton Hills (he pleaded not guilty) and had a bench warrant from January (his record shows past felony offenses).  FOX 19 Now
  • Antonio Riano, a former Mexican cop, was sentenced Monday to 18 years to life by Butler County Judge Michael Oster for the December 2004 murder of Benjamin Becarra on Long Street in Hamilton—he will be eligible for parole when he turns 80 and the court ordered the weapon used be destroyed.  Journal-News
  • A 29-year-old Evanston man is facing charges for allegedly selling a fentanyl compound to a Sycamore Township woman who died of an overdose the day after she completed a 30-day drug treatment program — he is charged with involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs, and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and could face up to 20 years in prison after recently serving a drug trafficking sentence.  FOX 19 Now

  • Former Cincinnati Children's chaplain Ayman Soliman remains hopeful while detained at Butler County Jail after his asylum status was revoked, as his coworker Lizzy Diop said when she visited him Sunday. He will face further immigration proceedings and Congressman Greg Landsman confirmed he can stay in Ohio for now—but his attorneys worry he might be moved, risking his safety.  WCPO
