CRIME NEWS

  • Officials are working on plea negotiations for three Chilean men charged in the December burglary at Joe Burrow’s Anderson Township home when nearly $300,000 in designer luggage, watches and jewelry was stolen while the Bengals were in Dallas, and the suspects face federal and Hamilton County charges after being arrested during a traffic stop.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Construction crews are turning a former corporate building in Hamilton’s Riverview neighborhood into an Advanced Manufacturing Hub where Butler Tech and Miami University students will train for manufacturing jobs. The $31 million project is funded by Butler County, city officials and federal, state and corporate grants—high school classes will begin in January.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio House lawmakers will vote on July 21 to try to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s vetoes on three property tax measures—needing 60 votes in the House and, if successful, 20 votes in the Senate for the override. Lawmakers say the changes aim to adjust funding for schools and local governments, and the Senate is expected to act soon after the House vote.  FOX 19 Now
  • A chaplain for Cincinnati Children's Hospital — Ayman Soliman, who serves as imam at Clifton Mosque — was detained by ICE during his scheduled 9 a.m. check-in at the Homeland Security Office in Blue Ash on Wednesday. Advocacy group YUSRA and local faith leaders said his asylum status had been revoked in December without explanation and are urging his release to protect his safety.  WLWT
  • The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners will review a new 11-year lease update for Paycor Stadium with the Cincinnati Bengals at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17 — residents are invited to offer public comments in person or virtually. The term sheet revises cost shares for the stadium renovation to reduce public contributions compared to the previous deal.  WCPO
