  • A Fairfield man refurbishes bicycles to support local animal shelters by donating his proceeds to help care for animals in need — he plans to keep working until more animals receive the help they need.  FOX 19 Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two drownings occurred over the holiday weekend at East Fork State Park in Bethel as 49-year-old Michael McAffrey was pulled from the water around 4 p.m. Saturday and a 14-year-old boy went missing on Sunday before being found dead around 1 a.m. Monday—officials continue to investigate the incidents and urge water safety.  WLWT
  • Antonio Conrad, 36, died after a crash on the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge when a car struck him while he was helping push a disabled vehicle on I-471 at about 3:40 a.m. on Sunday — a car passenger sustained a spinal cord injury and the disabled vehicle driver suffered minor injuries.  WLWT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local fans saw an early screening of the new 'Superman' movie on Monday as Film Cincinnati hosted the event featuring scenes filmed at Union Terminal & Lytle Tunnel and local talent, while the film will open in theaters on Friday. The event showcased a boost in local film industry jobs and growing community interest in movies.  Local 12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hamilton County Adult Probation Department is reorganizing its tracking system to better supervise about 3,000 probationers by closing 12 neighborhood offices and reallocating officers to focus solely on field work. Phase one is underway and phase three—when all officers will work out of 800 Broadway—will be completed by September.  FOX 19 Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hamilton County Public Health reported that mosquitos trapped in Wyoming tested positive for West Nile virus even though no human cases have occurred in our area this year. Health officials recommend that residents reduce standing water and use EPA-approved repellents — steps that may help lower the risk of infection.  WVXU
