CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Indiana man was arrested on June 7 and faces charges of kidnapping, attempted rape and gross sexual imposition after luring two victims at a Butler County massage business — he is held on a $500,000 bond and his competency hearing is set for July 31. Journal-News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The free All America Bash—formerly Taps, Tastes and Tunes—runs today from noon to 11 p.m. in front of the Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting in West Chester Twp with Grammy-winning Soul Asylum headlining at 9 p.m. and a flag raising at 1:15 p.m. Fireworks will light the sky tomorrow at 10 p.m. while local bands and food vendors add to the festivities. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Volunteers have planted over a thousand native trees in Timberman Ridge MetroPark in Ross Twp. to protect them from deer damage (37 percent are oaks that support local wildlife) and connect new growth with existing forests; additional trees will be grown in a nearby greenhouse and planted in the fall. This reforestation effort aims to create a healthy habitat for future generations. Journal-News
- ➤ The Ohio Division of Wildlife confirmed 964 active bald eagle nests based on over 1,800 citizen reports during the 2025 census. Hamilton recorded seven nests and the released map—shared on Thursday—shows most nests are in northern counties. WLWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Newtown mayor Mark Kobasuk resigned Monday—saying that police chief Tom Synan’s federal lawsuit was not a factor—and Vice Mayor Terry Fairley now leads the village. Kobasuk said he and his wife purchased a home near their Kentucky farm and planned to move soon while the lawsuit alleges he tried to force the chief to resign. FOX 19 Now
- ➤ Hamilton County officials and the Bengals reached an agreement on Thursday to negotiate a new lease for Paycor Stadium that will keep the team playing there through at least 2036 while the county will spend $350 million on renovations and the club will pay $120 million along with rent, and a final letter of intent is due on Monday — a move that gives county officials more control over non-game day use of the facility.
