CRIME NEWS

  • Two suspects, Jerome Collier from Hamilton and Dayton’s Dy’Shonna Goins, were indicted on a total of 12 charges on Friday after a June 16 shooting at Bar II in Middletown left four people shot and one man dead & court appearances are expected soon.  Journal-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • High St., a home decor store on Reading Road, is entering the Cincinnati Pride Parade for the first time with a float that will roll about halfway through the route. Store owner Matt Knotts and his husband Andrew Kiley said the float will feature a three-foot-high LED screen—on which dancers will appear—and disco balls while they also open a new in-store bar called Rosemary's.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Butler Tech announced a free manufacturing training program for adult students that will start on July 14 at its adult education campus in Monroe—offering eight weeks of technical training and job placement help. The program is funded by a $200,000 grant from Ohio Life Sciences and its partners and aims to prepare students for advanced manufacturing jobs.  Journal-News

  • Butler County has named Lisa Dierling as the new Children Services director, using 30 years of experience to guide teams in keeping children safe & working well together. The agency changed its name to the Department of Human and Social Services to boost care for children and address homelessness in the county.  Journal-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cincinnati Children's announced a $365M expansion in Liberty Township to boost care access and add 250 new jobs. The project will add a five-story building and update 170,000 square feet—its largest investment since a $600M critical care tower opened in late 2021.  Local 12 News
