- ➤ On Wednesday, a Food Town in Hamilton experienced a shooting when Justin Ytaurte entered the store to demand money, leading to a struggle that left a clerk with a shot arm—witnesses said he fled toward a park with the gun still in hand, and he now faces aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges with a court date set for July 3. - ➤ Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich scheduled a press conference after Terry Stiles was sentenced to over nine years in prison for setting the fire that damaged the Big Mac Bridge and 1000 Hands Playground in November 2024—since then, all four involved have pleaded guilty. WCPO
- ➤ The wife of the slain OTR gym owner told reporter Tricia Macke she is grieving his loss—she seeks changes to help prevent similar tragedies in the future. FOX 19 Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Butler County officials are asking voters in November to approve the renewal of a 1.3-mill levy and an additional .7-mill levy to fund services for seniors who need help with transportation, meals, and care—up to six other local levy proposals are also on the November ballot. The levies would add about $24.50 per $100,000 in property value and are critical to keep support for roughly 4,000 older adults. Journal-News
- ➤ Governor Mike DeWine signed a law in 2022 that allows residents to use consumer-grade fireworks on holidays such as New Year's, Chinese New Year, & Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day weekend, Juneteenth, July 3, 4, and 5, Labor Day weekend, and Diwali. The law requires fireworks to be used safely, with retailers providing safety glasses and pamphlets & local officials able to restrict discharges in their areas. WLWT
