  • MetroParks of Butler County will host a Big Backyard Nature Bash at Rentschler Forest MetroPark on June 28 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. to teach outdoor skills through night hikes, birdwatching, and DIY maker stations for boomerangs and pop bottle rockets, with families needing to register in advance for the $5 event that is free for children under age 2.  Journal-News
  • The Hamilton Historic Farmers Market turns 150 with planned events—like a scavenger hunt and poker run—set for early August to mark its history that began before 1820.   • On Sunday, June 22, more than 250 volunteers from across the United States arrived in Butler County to repair homes for over 30 income-qualified residents—especially for the elderly and disabled.   • Police are investigating a shooting at a restaurant in Forest Park near Park Place Restaurant (on Kemper Meadow Drive off Winton Road) on Sunday afternoon, and officials said details on injuries and suspects remain unclear.  WCPO

  • Onyx + East received a zone change to build 90 homes on a 30.6-acre lot on Hamilton-Mason Road in the mouse hole area after revising plans to lower density. Final plans will be sent to the township later this summer and construction is expected to start in 2026.  Journal-News
