  • Todd Daniels will sell his Trenton IGA store and building to a four-person group from Hamilton with the closing set for July 21—he will help with the transition until new owners are in place. After 45 years of family ownership, no Daniels will own a grocery store for the first time.  Journal-News

  • Hamilton County court raised Mordecia Black’s bond to $5 million after he was charged with killing Patrick Heringer on June 4 when he allegedly broke into the victim’s East McMicken Avenue home and attacked his wife—prosecutors describe him as a dangerous flight risk.  FOX 19 Now
  • Lincoln Heights Mayor Ruby Kinsey-Mumphrey said she remains troubled by neo-Nazis who demonstrated on the Evendale overpass in February & Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich filed no charges & residents near a historically Black neighborhood still feel unsafe.  WCPO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Edgewood Schools will now be led by Curtis Philpot — a former interim superintendent and middle school principal — after the school board approved his two-year, $132,000-per-year contract. He is using the summer break to prepare for the upcoming school year by focusing on cost reduction and community engagement amid tight state funding.  Journal-News
  • Local school districts are adding career counseling in freshman year to help students explore career pathways and meet workforce needs—programs like YouScience and updated courses at Miami Valley Career Tech Center and Springfield City Schools guide students in choosing careers that match their skills and interests.  Springfield News-Sun
  • Butler Tech is expanding its Bioscience Center with a three-story, 25,000-square-foot addition—located at the Interstate-75 and Cincinnati-Dayton Road interchange in West Chester Twp.
