  • On June 14, downtown Hamilton hosted a 'No Kings' protest during a military parade in Washington, D.C. + Many other cities held similar protests as part of the nationwide events +.  Journal-News
  • Hamilton youth ages 12-18 will soon have a chance to play free ball at Spooky Nook Sports Champion Mill as crews finish installing new courts. Two courts will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17 and the same hours on July 15 — the facility is at 601 N. B St.  Journal-News

CRIME NEWS

  • A jury found Antonio Riano guilty of murder when he shot Benjamin Becarra outside the Round House Bar on Long Street in December — he now faces an eighteen years to life sentence with sentencing set for July 14.  WCPO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Organizers announced that the 18th Annual Craft Beer Festival will be held in two four-hour sessions on June 21 at Oscar Station on N. Gilmore Road at Jungle Jim’s. Visitors will sample over 400 beers from nearly 100 breweries, including three top U.S. craft makers and the historic D.G. Yuengling & Sons, while enjoying food trucks, outdoor games, and live music—plus the debut of a new Jungle Jim’s Fruit Stand beer.  Journal-News

  • Sarah Van Frank-Affrunti led a session at Boyd Hall on Miami’s campus — educating 15 community members on where their tap water comes from — and praised support from local water experts. She said her goal is to build bridges with neighbors and help women grow in leadership roles within the water district.  Journal-News

  • Hamilton plans to redevelop the historic Beckett Paper Mill site on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard using a $2.1 million state demolition grant to support its adaptive reuse. The Ohio Department of Development awarded the Butler County Land Bank a $2.18 million Brownfield Remediation Program grant — a move that will boost the city’s urban core transformation.  Local 12 News
