COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Queen of Peace Catholic School and local businesses donated hundreds of pounds of food and about $1,000 on May 30 to Serve City—supporting a pop-up pantry and the Queen of Peace Insecurity Fund amid food shortages in Hamilton. The donation follows past student-led drives and comes as federal cuts reduced food supplies for local pantries.  Journal-News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 17-year-old was taken to hospital after Hamilton Township Fire Rescue saved him from the steep bank of the Little Miami River on Cones Road Monday—using a stokes basket and rope system to remove him safely.  Local 12 News
  • A juvenile was taken to a hospital in critical condition after drowning in a private pool in Union Township Tuesday around 5 p.m.+ responders arrived to find community members providing life-saving care before the child was transported as investigators began examining the incident.  FOX 19 Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hamilton County launched the 513 Relief Bus on Tuesday in Elmwood to offer free medical care, social services, mental health help, addiction treatment, and on-site birth certificate printing—an effort to support residents in need. The bus, funded by the County Commissioners, will make 12 stops in June—next stops are Thursday in West End and Friday in Kennedy Heights.  Local 12 News
  • Colerain Police Chief Ed Cordie said his department is understaffed with 58 officers for nearly 60,000 residents, and over 40 taxpayers raised concerns about traffic enforcement and response times at a Tuesday meeting. The department will add 22 cameras along Colerain Avenue today to boost investigations while future budgets may lead to deeper cuts.  WVXU
