CRIME NEWS

  • Corey Clark, a 39-year-old suspect, led police on a stolen-car chase and foot pursuit that ended in a SWAT standoff in North Avondale—he is held without bond at the Hamilton County jail and faces charges including receiving stolen property, drug possession, and other offenses, and he is also wanted in northern Kentucky.  FOX 19 Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Butler County education service center governing board hired Brandt — a veteran Hamilton County school leader with deep local roots — as its new superintendent; he will replace retiring Chris Brown and begin his contract on Aug. 1. Brandt, who spent 25 years in school leadership and started as a teacher, said he is excited to work with local districts to expand opportunities.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Senate Finance committee will release its initial version of the biennial state budget Tuesday and may adjust the 30% cap on public school carryover funds that could lower local homeowner taxes. Senate President Rob McColley (of Napoleon) said he believes the cap does not provide enough funds to cover unexpected school repair costs.  WVXU
  • An independent investigation by 21CP Solutions into the Feb 7 neo-Nazi demonstration found that Hamilton County Emergency Management’s notification process needs to improve for local schools & that the agency was shocked by the new recommendations. The report supported the Evendale Police Department’s actions and suggested stronger communication with local partners, with Hamilton County Emergency Management planning to review the process.  FOX 19 Now
