- ➤ The Butler County Board of Elections certified that a tied 620-620 vote on May 22 was broken by a margin of five votes, causing the Madison Local Schools levy to fail and ending a $1.1 million annual funding source for salaries and services. The funding cut will likely force budget cuts such as teaching layoffs and removal of high school busing, and the school board is set to meet on May 27 to plan next steps — further changes are expected. - ➤ Work on the USS Cincinnati nuclear submarine memorial in West Chester Twp continues with plans to display a full-size replica, original conning tower and interactive STEM kiosks tied to Lakota, Mason, Butler Tech and Indian Hills Schools.
