COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A ribbon cutting on May 17 in Hamilton marked the opening of Indigo Hippo art supplies (and Tide Pool community art center), offering a fresh venue for local art projects.  Journal-News
  • Arlington Memorial Gardens will host its annual Field of Memories this Memorial Day weekend to honor those who gave their lives and supported local veterans. The event will showcase a thousand American flags and a silent traveling memorial (based on veteran mental health) in the garden.  WLWT
  • The 34th Leadership Hamilton class is renovating Open Door Food Pantry (800 S. Front St.) to add modern seating, clearer signage and a kids' zone that will boost comfort and mental well-being. The makeover project will roll out over the coming months.  Journal-News

  • On Monday night a fire damaged three mobile homes on the 2200 block of Hamilton Cleves Road in Butler County; multiple fire departments responded and no injuries were reported.  WLWT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Thyssenkrupp Presta North America LLC announced Monday, May 18 that it will close its Terre Haute facility by March 31, 2027 and shift production to its Hamilton facility at 8685 Bilstein Blvd — a change expected to strengthen U.S. operations.  Journal-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Channel 5 news anchor Sheree Paolello, a Delhi Township native with 24 years at the station, will be inducted into the WLWT Hall of Fame this summer (joining icons like Bonnie Lou and Ron Whitacre). The honor highlights her long career in local broadcast journalism.  WVXU

  • The Buckeye Triathlon and Multisport Festival will take place on Sunday, May 31 at Caesar Creek State Park, featuring triathlons, duathlons, aqua bikes, and aquathlons. Local roads may see delays as sheriffs slow traffic for cyclists, but no closures are planned.  Journal-News
