CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Forest Park reported that Monday evening 18-year-old Jaeden Smith was fatally shot, and 38-year-old Domynic Elahee was arrested—charged with murder—after police arrived at the apartment building on Northland Boulevard, with investigations ongoing.  WLWT
  • The Duke Energy Convention Center is lighting up in Cincinnati to honor deputy Larry Henderson, who died last Friday after a car hit him while he was directing traffic at the University of Cincinnati graduation—public visitations will be held May 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery and May 9 at the Cintas Center as Rodney Hinton Jr. faces an aggravated murder charge.  WLWT
  • Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Tyrone Yates denied bond for 39-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr., who is accused of driving his car into retired deputy Larry Henderson near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Burnet Woods Drive during the UC commencement on May 2 as his attorney said Hinton was in severe mental distress after viewing footage of his son's shooting.  WVXU

  • Ohio voters approved a measure on Tuesday to renew the Ohio Capital Improvement Program that authorizes $2.5B in bonds over 10 years—allowing up to $250 million in bonds each year to fund roads, bridges and other local projects and create about 35,000 construction jobs. The initiative was backed by a broad coalition and relies on existing state revenues rather than raising taxes.  WLWT
