  • Rising gas prices are challenging Meals on Wheels of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky as the service delivers over 45,000 trips for seniors with its 54-vehicle fleet; CEO Mike Dunn said the organization spent an average of $3 per gallon and may adjust services if fuel costs keep rising.  WLWT
  • Friends and family gathered in Hamilton to honor Brittany Stykes during a heartfelt tribute that celebrated her lasting impact on the community.  FOX 19 Now

  • Ground was broken Tuesday on South Liberty Drive (off Yankee Road) in Liberty Township for Skyline Chili’s new restaurant that will seat about 100 diners, include a drive thru, and open in 2027.  Local 12 News
  • Kroger announced that seniors 55 and older will receive an extra 5% discount on in-store grocery purchases today, with free treats served from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at a senior engagement table in local stores.  WLWT

  • A new justice-themed mural was dedicated at a local law office on May 1 by Cincy ARTE, celebrating Law Day and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The collaborative project invites community members to paint and add a meaningful artistic touch to the corner of South Third and Ludlow.  Journal-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two local quiz teams won state titles on Tuesday, May 5 in Ohio's top academic competitions. St. Xavier became the fifth team in state history to secure wins in both the National Academic Quiz Tournament and the Ohio Academic Competition while Indian Hill claimed the Division II title.  Local 12 News
  • Early vote tallies from Butler County showed that Fairfield Schools’ proposed 1.25% earned income tax was losing by a 54% to 46% margin Tuesday evening. School officials warned that rejecting the measure could force $4.5 million in cuts for the 2026-2027 school year.  Journal-News
  • Jeff Madden was named Edgewood Schools superintendent for the next school year during a May 4 board meeting. Madden, an Edgewood High School graduate and former assistant superintendent at Fairborn Schools, will take the helm as Curtis Philpot steps into a new role (director of business operations and facilities).  Journal-News
