ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Texas Roadhouse on Main Street in Hamilton caught fire Thursday at 8:10 p.m. with no injuries reported (the cause remains unclear) and the restaurant is temporarily closed until further notice.  Local 12 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A hit-and-run video from March 12 shows a red SUV driven by 34-year-old Jamila Hobbs striking a man near the Hamilton County Courthouse, sending him into the air and injuring him with a concussion, broken ankle, and broken pelvis—Hobbs has been indicted on charges of felonious vehicular assault and failure to stop and is still at large.  WLWT
  • Lewis Ray Patterson, a 25-year-old accused of shooting at police during a foot pursuit, did not cooperate with his competency evaluation on Thursday—his lack of cooperation delayed the process, and he will appear before Judge Keith Spaeth at 9 a.m. on May 22 for further review.  Journal-News

  • The restored bronze sundial on South Monument Avenue, originally dedicated in May 1941, will have its dedication on May 31 at 1 p.m. at Monument Park—Kathleen Fox led the restoration after learning from family ties to Hamilton author Stella Weiler Taylor and fundraising efforts helped pay for the work.  Journal-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan warned that federal funding cuts may harm the Hamilton County Addiction Response Coalition, which lowered overdose deaths from 570 in 2017 to 270 in 2024 (a 52% drop) and helps provide Narcan and recovery services (backed by a $56 million federal grant).  Local 12 News
