ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two people died in a crash on Friday near Butler County Regional Airport in Fairfield, with Hamilton County Coroner’s Office identifying 26-year-old Juan Gurrion Cortez as the driver who died during AirCare transport+ Fairfield police said a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene+ investigators noted speed as a factor while Bobmeyer Road was closed during the probe.  Journal-News

  • Crypto ATM scams are rising as fraudsters trick victims into transferring funds through machines in convenience stores — authorities warn that victims have lost hundreds of millions of dollars.  Local 12 News
  • A 15-year-old boy is accused of killing 25-year-old Kyle Myrick while he was on electronic monitoring for an aggravated assault and will face a juvenile judge on April 28 to decide if he should be charged as an adult—he has five past convictions from 16 charges and his case has raised concerns about youth violence and gun access.  Local 12 News
  • An 18-year-old Hamilton man charged with aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit murder asked the Butler County court on Wednesday to allow him to hire a private investigator for evidence collection and to appoint a new attorney—he is set to return to court May 1 at 1 p.m.  Journal-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hamilton artist Brian Beck learned drawing in his father's home studio and was named Best Artist in Butler County after a friend urged him to return to painting following a 10-year break. He now works on murals at local sites, hosts weekly art events at Municipal Brew Works, and teaches art therapy at a detention center—helping teens reconnect with school and community.  Journal-News
