  • Jim Pickup, owner of Stone Tavern on Heaton Street and battling terminal cancer, led a major renovation to restore the historic tavern — a project that began 30 years ago when he bought the building — to help revitalize Hamilton's North End. He worked with local helpers on woodwork and furniture and continued daily work until he entered hospice care a few weeks ago.  Local 12 News

  • Hamilton police reunited 14-year-old Donavin Perez with Tim Wolf— the man who called 911 after the teen wrecked his scooter on St. Patrick’s Day at Greenwood Cemetery— as Donavin, who spent two weeks in the hospital after bad head injuries, prepares to go back to school next week.  FOX 19 Now

  • Hamilton will see two new dining spots open this summer as part of a $4M project that transformed a downtown building, with the Italian-inspired Carmagnola Trattoria + the cocktail, wine and espresso bar the Grey debuting in connected locations.  Local 12 News
  • Wawa opened its first store in Ohio in Liberty Township at the northeast corner of Cincinnati-Dayton Road and Liberty Way—just south of Ohio 129—coinciding with Wawa Day. It is one of eight to 10 stores set to open in Ohio this year and one of five in Butler County, with each new site involving an investment of over $7.5 million and the creation of about 35 jobs.  FOX 19 Now

  • Hamilton police are searching for a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl last seen at Wilson Middle School on Tuesday around noon, reporting that the girl is 5-foot-4 with sandy blond hair with pink tips and the boy is 5-foot-5 with shoulder-length red hair in a light blue hoodie — anyone with information is urged to call Hamilton police or Ohio Land Search & Rescue.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voting rights advocates warn that the SAVE Act in Congress and Senate Bill 153 in the Ohio Statehouse will require voters to show documents—like birth certificates or passports—to update registration and halt online sign-ups. Critics say the measures will soon make it harder for students, military members, and others to vote if they are approved.  WVXU
  • Drivers in the Tri-State area are visiting local motor vehicle offices to secure a Real ID before the federal enforcement deadline on May 7 so they can avoid extra screening at checkpoints. The Ohio BMV provides a virtual queue system — letting residents join online to help reduce long waits.  Local 12 News
