COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Researchers from the University of Notre Dame are studying the shelter diversion program at Strategies to End Homelessness in Cincinnati and Hamilton County to measure short- and long-term outcomes for mostly family participants — including employment, education and justice involvement — to provide evidence that service providers can use to improve funding and program design. The study began in November and will continue for at least two years, with a related project using predictive analytics to identify at-risk families set to launch later this year.  WVXU

  • On Saturday morning, a handmade explosive device exploded on the 5000 block of East Miami River Road in Miami Twp — crews arrived after reports of smoke and a loud noise, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating with the FBI.  Journal-News

  • Butler County Job and Family Services has awarded Valley Transportation a new five-year $16.7 million contract for non-emergency transport services—replacing Universal Transportation Systems after a 15-year run. Valley Transportation is set to begin a transition with its drivers and vehicles ready to serve.  Journal-News
