  • Riverfront communities are beginning cleanup as the Ohio River drops from its peak, with crews set to hose down streets and remove debris—Hamilton County has declared a State of Emergency and offers cleanup kits by calling 211 while areas in Covington, Campbell County, Cincinnati and New Richmond prepare coordinated recovery efforts.  WVXU

  • Joshua Merz, a Miami Township man, was accused on Tuesday of locking his 2-year-old son in a bedroom for eight hours—he was arraigned on Wednesday on a felony child endangering charge with a judge setting a $25,000 bond and barring him from contacting his son.  Local 12 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Federal officials are considering cuts to a $500 million grant awarded to Cleveland-Cliffs for upgrading blast furnaces in Middletown. The decision could affect over 100 permanent jobs and 1,200 construction jobs — experts warn that reducing the funding might hurt future manufacturing.  WCPO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Flooding in Greater Cincinnati has affected many homes, and experts say residents should first secure safety by shutting off electricity and calling 911—then quickly document damages to file insurance claims and seek FEMA help if needed. Local restoration crews are busy with water removal and repairs may be delayed as they work to prevent mold and further damage.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Braden's Law has taken effect in Ohio, making sextortion a third-degree felony with a maximum penalty of up to 36 months in prison and a $10,000 fine, while offenses against minors, elderly or disabled victims are treated as first-degree felonies—punishable by up to 11 years in prison. Social media companies must also give authorized family members access to a deceased child's phone and social media accounts within 30 days.  Local 12 News
  • Ohio libraries received more funding when the House Finance Committee approved a two-year budget on Tuesday — the plan sets funding as a fixed amount rather than a percentage of revenues, which raises concerns over shared services. Lawmakers will vote on the proposal soon before it heads to the Senate for final approval by June 30.  WVXU
