EDUCATION NEWS

  • Talawanda School District said on March 27 that a school board member’s account and student calendars were used to access sensitive student information without authorization, prompting the district to contact law enforcement to consider criminal charges. Administrators tightened privacy settings and notified families after concerns emerged at a December board meeting—further investigation is underway.  Journal-News

  • Heavy rain caused the Great Miami River to crest Saturday night at around 10:15 p.m.—flooding was observed near the river. By 7 a.m. on Sunday, water had receded slightly—yet standing water remained near Riverfront West Pavilion in Miamitown.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Liberty Township will end free recycling on April 30 because misuse of the bins has led to trash piling up nearby. Township officials said residents can sign up for Rumpke’s weekly curbside service for $6 a month — new subscribers will have the fee waived for the first three months.  Journal-News

  • Over 20,000 pounds of Johnsonville bratwurst were recalled because they might contain hard plastic—some of the sausage was sold locally and customers should check their freezers and discard any found product.  Local 12 News
