EDUCATION NEWS

  • Superintendent Kelly Spivey resigned from Edgewood Schools late Friday due to personal circumstances and ended nearly 40 years in education. The board appointed Curtis Philpot as interim superintendent to lead the 3,500-student district—Philpot is a longtime educator and former superintendent at Madison Schools.  Journal-News

  • Residents in Hamilton County near the Ohio and Little Miami rivers face flooded basements as rising water puts homes at risk. Homeowners have cleared belongings and readied pumps in case the river crests at 60 ft — local businesses worry about severe losses if the water continues to rise.  WLWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Unclaimed Funds has launched an online system to help Ohioans and business owners claim roughly $4.8 billion from dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks and bonds, utility deposits or unclaimed wages—users can upload documents and track their claims. The system will review most claims within 120 days and meets reporting requirements under ORC 169.  Local 12 News
