COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trustees have selected Leathers and Associates to design and construct a new replica play structure for Ft. Liberty Playland, replacing the old castle-themed wood playset built 26 years ago after safety concerns. The new play structure, built with composite materials and covering about 10,500 square feet, will cost up to $900,000 and take 6-8 weeks to complete this year — township workers will assist with the project.  Journal-News

  • A crash with injuries occurred near North 7th Street and Dayton Street in Hamilton where at least one person remains trapped in a vehicle—police and fire crews responded as injury severity remains unconfirmed and traffic delays may occur.  WLWT

  • Megumi Sushi Ramen Grill will open a new 3,200-square-foot restaurant at 102 Main St. in Hamilton this spring—marking its first Tri-State location. Husband and wife owners I Kadek Eri Budiasa and Rona Simarmata, who also run a location in Troy and Konnichiwa Japanese Steak House, plan to add more Asian cuisine choices to the area.  Local 12 News
  • Skyline Chili Nachos returned on Monday and now come with new spicy options—customers can choose between spicy nachos with extreme Habanero Cheese or a 3, 4 or 5-Way topped with jalapeño slices—available for dine-in and carryout at participating Skyline locations.  WLWT

CRIME NEWS

  • A Hamilton man was indicted by a Butler County grand jury on nearly a dozen sex-related crimes against children — two counts of rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition with victims under 13 — and he is set to have a plea hearing at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.  WCPO

  • Today, the Ohio House passed a bill that will end replacement tax levies that often raise taxes when property values grow & confuse voters. If approved by the Senate and governor, local tax jurisdictions will rely on renewal levies & other funding methods to fund public services.  Springfield News-Sun
