CRIME NEWS

  • A Fairfield man (Folkes) pleaded not guilty after he allegedly put a Hamilton cop in a chokehold during an arrest for a failed sobriety test; a judge lowered his bond to $50,000 (fifth-degree felony charge) and set his hearing for April 1 with trial on April 9.  Journal-News
  • At 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Evendale Police and other agencies responded to a pursuit from Butler County into Hamilton County that led to a shutdown of I-75 northbound near the Lockland split, where an officer encountered a male subject on the highway—after a suspect vehicle was found crashed near Glendale Milford Road and Evendale Drive—and fatally shot him.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Lakota school board has named interim principal Matthew MacFarlane as full-time principal at Lakota East High School after serving since 2019—he said he will work to build a nurturing and innovative environment for the school’s roughly 2,600 students.  Journal-News
  • Workers are installing a second synthetic turf practice field at Badin High School today as school officials finalize plans for the Lanni Family Stadium at Matandy SportsPlex, which will open in June to host the school’s first home sports events. The $15 million project has faced weather and material delays and is nearly fully funded by private donors as the school prepares for football and soccer games next fall.  Journal-News
