A Fairfield man (Folkes) pleaded not guilty after he allegedly put a Hamilton cop in a chokehold during an arrest for a failed sobriety test; a judge lowered his bond to $50,000 (fifth-degree felony charge) and set his hearing for April 1 with trial on April 9.

At 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Evendale Police and other agencies responded to a pursuit from Butler County into Hamilton County that led to a shutdown of I-75 northbound near the Lockland split, where an officer encountered a male subject on the highway—after a suspect vehicle was found crashed near Glendale Milford Road and Evendale Drive—and fatally shot him.

The Lakota school board has named interim principal Matthew MacFarlane as full-time principal at Lakota East High School after serving since 2019—he said he will work to build a nurturing and innovative environment for the school’s roughly 2,600 students.
