  • Ann Marie Cilley closed The Casual Pint after a faulty pipe caused a flood that forced the bar to close for a few days — she arranged a GoFundMe that quickly raised over $5,000 to help her tip-based staff and keep her strong team together.  Journal-News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Hamilton man, Fermin Garcia-Gutierrez, who has been deported to Mexico seven times, will stand trial in May on murder and other felony charges—he was arrested last April for a killing in a garage, Butler County Judge Jennifer McElfresh said.  Journal-News
  • Officers with the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force executed search warrants on Thursday and seized 108 grams of fentanyl, 230 grams of cocaine, $20,000, two handguns, and many pills from a Hamilton residence, arresting 44-year-old Rikki Sneed for felony drug possession + they said the haul could kill over half a million people.  Local 12 News
  • An 18-year-old suspect wanted for assaulting an officer in Spencer County was arrested in Fairfield after a chase ended when he crashed into two police cruisers—then collided with a medical transport van and another car, injuring seven people.  WLWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • TechSolve workers (from Blue Ash) visited Butler Tech and gave $20,000 to support its 7th-year mechatronics program for high school students. The program helps students learn skills for jobs in robotics, automation and manufacturing.  Journal-News
  • Twenty-eight show choirs from local schools, including Hamilton, Ross, Edgewood, Lebanon, Loveland and Norwood, will compete at Fairfield Senior High School this Saturday, March 15th, 2025, with doors opening at 7 a.m. and performances beginning at 8 a.m. The event features a new women’s large treble category—adding extra excitement—and solo competitions held at a nearby freshman school; final award ceremonies will begin at 11:45 p.m.—a capstone for the day.  Journal-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butler County will spend $24.4M on road and bridge work in 2025, using an almost 20% drop in asphalt prices to lower paving estimates from $11M to about $8M. County engineer Greg Wilkens will repave 35.3 miles of roads and invest $13.4M on bridge projects, including replacing the Kyles Station bridge, while commissioners review funding challenges from shifting gas tax revenues—officials plan more updates soon.  Journal-News
