  • Local events light up Butler County today and this weekend. Enjoy the free Maple Syrup Festival at Hueston Woods from 8 a.m., the Shamrock Skate at Goggin Ice Center at 3:15 p.m., and a bourbon and BBQ event in Middletown at 6 p.m., with more events scheduled across the area.  Journal-News

  • Women-owned businesses Lady on the Roof and Streetside Brewery have teamed up to create a limited edition beer. The new brew will soon be available for Hamilton locals (more details on its release will be shared shortly).  FOX 19 Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tri-State residents are now paying much higher power bills as energy costs double and capacity fees rise fivefold (driven by increased demand from AI data centers); Duke Energy said its transmission fees add little to the overall costs which are set by market prices.  Local 12 News

  • After recent destructive flooding — residents in Butler County are bracing for more rain today as strong to severe storms with damaging winds are expected.  FOX 19 Now

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A report from HOME released Friday shows local Black households still face significant homeownership disparities compared to white households — upper-income Black borrowers are denied mortgages 3.8 times more often than white borrowers and the report urges simpler access to tax relief programs.  WVXU
  • The final buildings at the former Forest Fair Mall were demolished on Friday, March 6, paving the way for zoning changes that will let the site be redeveloped into a business and industrial park. Demolition began last fall (the mall was once known as Cincinnati Mills).  Local 12 News

  • Freestyle skier Connor Curran of Sharonville returned last Friday after winning gold in mixed aerials at the Winter Olympics in Italy. His hometown will honor him next Friday at the Sharonville Convention Center with giveaways and face painting, and tickets go on sale Tuesday.  WLWT
